"Join Us and Tell Ben & Jerry's: Get poisons out of your ice cream!
Get this: Recently, 10 of 11 samples of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream tested positive for glyphosate, the active ingredient in Monsanto’s dangerous Roundup herbicide.
Is this what Ben & Jerry’s means when it markets itself as “socially responsible” and “sustainable”?
Ice cream is no “health food,” and it’s not part of my diet or something I recommend. But whether you eat ice cream or not, you can join me in calling on Ben & Jerry’s to treat its cows and our planet better — and to stop poisoning the people who eat its ice cream…
TAKE ACTION: Tell Ben & Jerry’s: Roundup-Ready Ice Cream is neither ‘natural’ nor ‘socially responsible.’ Go 100% Organic!
Ben & Jerry’s (owned by the multinational corporation Unilever) has done an excellent job of convincing consumers that the company cares about people and the earth. But behind the ice cream brand’s greenwashed façade is an unfortunate truth:
The company relies on a dirty, GMO-fueled dairy industry that produces contaminated food, poisons Vermont’s waterways, abuses animals, exploits workers, bankrupts farmers, and contributes massively to climate change.
The fact is, dangerous pesticides like glyphosate, atrazine, and metolachlor — all carcinogens and endocrine disruptors and all used to grow the GMO crops fed to dairy cows — can have devastating effects on human health. And some of these toxins are in Ben & Jerry’s ice cream.
It’s time for Ben & Jerry’s to come clean and transition to a 100% organic supply chain. Do you agree? I invite you to sign the petition below:
TAKE ACTION: Tell Ben & Jerry’s - Go 100% Organic!"
So what do you think?
I am quite worried that, despite not appearing to be using GMOs in the recipes?, cows are fed a GMO diet... And this bears another set of questions: How other ice creams are made around the world? Are milk and cream used in the recipes from GMO-fed cattle? Are tests done to check for contaminants?
Why is there no transparency again, waiting for a whistleblower to get the information to the media...?
