Antioxidants are phytochemicals (see ‘Phytochemicals (Phytonutrients) – the truth’ article), vitamins and other nutrients that protect our cells against Free Radicals damages by bolstering our body’s defences. Cells, found in our body, have a natural defence mechanism in place against free radicals and are able to repair most of the damages; however, Antioxidants reinforce this protection (see‘Free Radicals – the truth’ article).
Antioxidants can be found in most fruits and vegetables, however, they are found in large quantities in culinary herbs (see ‘Coriander (Cilantro)’ article) and medicinal herbs.
