Cravings can become an addiction, and sugar is a well-known addictive substance, that can wreck havoc on your system, leading to malfunctions, and diseases.
This recipe has no added sugar, not even honey or syrups, but using Goji berries to sweeten naturally, without the maximum sugar load.
Combat cravings one day at a time, as long as the choice of treat is wise and healthy-er, such as my wonderfully delicious protein fruit bar.
Recipe (12–15 bars)
4 Tbsp Chia Seeds
4 Tbsp Flax/Linseeds (ground)
2 Tbsp Oat Bran
2 Tbsp Hulled Hemp Seeds
2 Tbsp Sesame Seeds
1 Handful Walnuts
1 handful Goji Berries (or soft Dried figs, or Apricots)
150 ml Water
Vanilla or cinnamon to flavour (optional)
Place all ingredients in a bowl and cover with water. You may add more or less depending on how much is absorbed.
The liquid will activate the seeds and make them more nutritious, while the Chia Seeds and Flax/Linseeds will bind the mix together.
Decant in a parchment/Greaseproof paper lined container, and press firmly, but gently.
Let to rest overnight. In the morning cut to size (about a thumb thick and long). Try to keep to 1 a day, especially within 15 minutes following exercising, to flood your cells with fuel and amino acids, for healing and repair.
Or as an afternoon pick me up if concentration and productivity is dipping...
